Product Description
Swift Canoes Cruiser 14.8
Swift’s most successful and best-selling pack boat. At just over fourteen and a half feet in length, it combines a fantastic compromise between forward tracking and manoeuvrability. On the water, the Cruiser 14.8 paddles much like a 14ft closed cockpit touring kayak but is lighter, easier to get into, and simpler to load up for overnight getaways. Designed to be paddled in the seated position, most users will find longer double-bladed kayak paddles the easiest, most efficient way to use the Cruiser 14.8. However, it can be paddled with a traditional single-bladed canoe paddle if or when desired.
With the low centre of gravity provided by the super comfortable Pack-Seating system the Cruiser 14.8 is stable, and from those that paddle it this boat is renowned to perform extremely well in choppier and windier conditions (within reason!). The 14.8 can turn surprisingly quickly for a boat of it’s length by initiating the bow rocker and ‘outside edging’ the boat through the turn. A very nice feature on Swifts performance Pack Boats, is the use of S Gunnels that make the paddling position slightly narrower at the top of the boat allowing for a much more efficient paddling style.
At under 12kg in the Kevlar Fusion layup, the Cruiser 14.8 pack boat is incredibly light making it easy to car top, portage around obstructions and carry down to the water’s edge. As far as canoe designs go, the 14.8 offers mid-range volume combined with fast, efficient forward speed to deliver a very well-designed boat for day trips, overnight adventures and exploring a wealth of British waterways.
